More often from an allergic reaction to the metal then general weight, especially at her age. Very insidious these reactions can be! The skin just dissolves. Well healed, piercings can take a lot of abuse!
To me, the holes looks properly healed, and not very irritated, but "sliced" by wearing heavy jewellery with thin wires (normal gauge) trough her ear. I know that some here on the forum likes that look, maybe because it indicates wearing heavy hoops, but I am myself more pleased with perfectly round holes. Said that, it is an amazing picture and an adorable girl!
Yea, wire gauge can get you! 1/4oz earring- That would be the PSI, but wire is only 1/4" long, so we are at 1oz, and only 1/128" thick- Now equiv weight is 128oz, or 8 pounds (PSI) of downward force!
Double the wire thickness and you 1/2 the load.
