First time getting pierced
katy
Rember what it was like when you first got your ears pierced? It was a special day that my mother had planed for me. It was my sixth birthday and there was snow on the ground. I just wanted to play in it but mom had other ideas. She loaded me in the car and we went to the mall. She got me some dresses and shoes and we had lunch and ice cream. Then she said its time to make your ears pretty. We went into the shop and I sat in the chair holding a teddy bear. Mom picked gold studs. She held my hands has they pierced each ear. It was like getting pinched. She loved it so much she asked if we could go ahead and double pierce each ear. We did with diamond star studs. They hurt a bit more. Mom decided to get her ears double pierced also. I sat in her lap when they did hers. We both looked pretty. My special day with mom.

Sadly it was a year before I even changed them. I was such a tomboy. I did not like wearing dresses or looking lady like. I was happy to be pierced but was not into fashion. One day I finaly tried on some of my moms hoops. She was watching me. .Not to bad. Makeup followed and so did the dresses and long hair. Womanhood here I come. Shoping with mom was fun except for he poor taste in earrings.

Hah, I can second the tomboy thing actually. Well, not so much tomboy as just quite geeky really, so fairly limited interest in that sort of thing. My mum was never one to pressure me or even nudge me about this sort of thing, so there I was, nearly 13 years old, with untouched ears :-) and, quite honestly, no plans to change that state of affairs.

But then my baby sister - 11 at the time - wanted to get her ears pierced. Mum picked us up from school, we went into town to the jeweller's of my mum's choice, and my sister asked for the piercings. I was only there because it was a family trip into town, of course, with the promise of ice cream and a browse in the computer shop! I certainly wasn't intending to go along with getting pierced. But then, sat on (dramatic voice) the Piercing Chair, my sister got cold feet. After about 15 minutes of li'l sis alternating between "OK, I'll do it" and "Mummy, I'm scared", I suddenly heard myself say go on, pierce mine. Partly it was to show her up, make her feel like a wimp - just friendly sibling rivalry. And partly it was to encourage her by demonstrating the lack of pain, or at least to embarrass her into getting it over with, because I wanted to get out of the jewelry shop (not my natural habitat!) and go for my ice cream. I still had very little actual interest in wearing earrings (and that didn't actually change for several more years), but there we go. My ears got pierced (pain? hardly!) which got Mary to pluck up the courage and get hers as well.

But as I said, I still didn't care about earrings. I left the studs in anyway, for about four months in fact, until my mum pretty much made me change them for some pearl studs to wear to a formal function. Which I removed fairly quickly and wore no earrings at all for a while, until I was given a pair of small (sorry lads!) silver hoops which I found I quite liked, and wore continuously for several years... until my interest in earrings increased in the last few years, and expanded to occasionally include larger hoops!
My sister, incidentally, was so keen that she changed her piercing studs only about three weeks after the piercing. With the inevitable result that they got horribly infected and took many months to heal properly, whereas I left mine alone and never had any trouble.

Oh yeah, first post here. Welcome to me!

Sorry for the tl;dr...

It was very nice to read your stories about your ears being pierced for the first time. I wish you could show some pictures of you when wearing these large hoopearrings Grin

Seduceme: Well, I for one am not really comfortable posting my face on here. Not to mention the fact that I haven't got a proper camera, although the one on my phone takes surprisingly good pictures.

I'll see if I can rustle up some ear-only shots from the phone camera for you, though... :-)

Thank you Katy and Sarah for your confessions concerning the moment of your first piercing of the ears, which explained me problems up to now unknown. Thank you once again.
