Hi All, Is it me or a hoops dying out lately. I know a lot of people love their hoops and are admired by our HoopFetish gang, but less people seem to be wearing them lately.
Also the multi-pierced look is fading out.
Just lately ive noticed that in all magazines all the models dont wear any earrings and the ones that do, are usually a dangle or a boring stud. No of them seem double or triple pierced.
Im (ahem) in my early 30's, and 10 years ago every model on posters, in magazines, in the public eye, were wearing hoops!! (many in each ear), is this a UK thing or worldwide??
Bring back the culture for multi-pierced ears with hoops!! |

It's true what you say. Up to a couple of summers ago big hoops were everywhere. Not so much this year. I noticed that. |

Has it been scientifically proven? ;-) One could count the number of persons wearing hoops and divide that with the total number of persons en counted. Would be hard work though. Maybe count the percentage of hoop wearers on the covers of magazines Vogue and the like...
Just rambling... |

I know in the early 2000's there was a big boom where suddenly every model or actress was wearing them. Since then, I have noticed this slowly diminished, but I still see lots of hoops being worn. |

I think also so. Hardly ever see hoops anymore. And in our country many girls use big dangles but not so often hoops |

I think it depends of the country. In France there has been a "big boom" in early 2000's, as hlover says. But now, it's very very rare. Only small hoops are still there. But big hoops have almost disappered, I only see them in parties (but not on every parties actually).
France is a very bad place for big hoops |

I also noticed-in Germany-, that big hoops had become rare. But sometimes I see still ladies wearing big hoops. Since Friday a new sales girl is working in my bakery. And she's wearing big hoops as big as a CD! This is really awesome. I think I will now visit this bakery more than one time a day!
Furthermore, if a trend goes, it will come again in a few years. I think, this is sure! So I hope, we well see more big hoops in the future.

The hoops lady at the bakery: I have never seen her again!?
So sad, because she had extremely big hoops, that are very rare. |

I was in Washington DC for a month last year and saw tons (at least 1/3) of all women had large hoops. In other US cities I still see lots (maybe 15-20%) ladies wearing large hoops as well. It seems hoops are always popular in some form but I agree there maybe less icon people wearing them compared to the popular time of early 2000's.
Just think next time hoops become super popular again maybe they will be even better! hahaha |
