What do you think about the critique that only trashy girls where hoops? |

funny thing... always heared it from girls - it´s seems to me that is a sort of envy. (that she dares to wear them)
but not only about hoops, heared it too about red fingernails, short dress, high heels etc.
sometimes it goes along with comments like slutty, whorish or "like a prostitute". ergo, everything that arouses man (or in some cases woman  ) must be bad etc. etc.
but like mentioned above, in 99% thus statements come from ... woman.

Daring is sexy. Who in the group will take the risk? Usually the woman that already know that she is very attractive, with or without jewellery. She has very little to risk, as she is confident about her appearance. It is then extra exciting when girls that have more of an "every day" look to them, dare risk being seen as "sexy/slutty" (even if only vaguely) by wearing big hoops or multiple piercings in their ears.

Trashy and slutty is obviously sexy. People selling sex are depending on it. Or do you think it is the other way round, that men thinks this style is sexy because it reminds them of them? I believe it is the former. |

I've definitely heard this stereo type. I know that my ex had told me she always associated hoops with sex even before she met me. Even though I agree with the association, I find it disappointing that such negative connotations are attached to hoops.
The funny thing is, the ones who are "trashy" and may or may not be wearers of hoops... usually arent that attractive to begin with. It's like they're trying to make themselves sexy by wearing sexy clothes. |

Well, I agree with the fact that hoops can make an everyday female look attractive. Of course, if the female isn't attractive to begin with, then it really doesn't matter what she is wearing. If she tries to make herself look sexier by wearing hoops, then she will end up appearing like a slut. Looks always come first no matter what.
As for being risky, I think that can be contributed for the fact that women love adventure. They find pleasure in trying new things that could change their attitude. They may have some negative views about wearing hoops at first but once they put a pair on and then go out one night, they may be surprised by the amount of attention they receive and officially become obsessed. After all, men adore a woman who isn't afraid to try something different . |

The critique is nonsence. Girls even act sexier when they wear BIG hoops as opposed to when they don't. I for one, LOVE a big and heavy hoop in a LARGE lobe.
Gets me every time.  |

The thing that i've noticed is that since big hoops were the height of fashion a few years ago a lot of gorls seem to have discovered them and wear them regularly now. Unlike most fashions which come and go in a year, the trend for big bold hoops seems to have lasted for 4 or 5 years now and shows no sign of going away (thankfully). I think fashion has a lot to be thanked for, for introducing a lot of girls to big hoops who would normally have considered them trashy, but they bought and wore them because it was the trend at the time. They then discovered just how great they make a girl look!! |

I'd say the fashion has been around longer than that. I noticed around here they started to come into fashion around 2000/2001 and never seemed to go away (thankfully). |

I just saw in the suggestion board a rejection for allowing dating here (which I do agree). And I saw hlover's comment about women being scared off by the men already...
why ?
Is it because the site is called 'fetish' and that's a bad word ? (I do think I have a fetish, though)
Are there women who already feel a bit doubtful about their look with big hoops and then find there are people who would like them for that reason ?
