Hilary Duff's Golden Hoops

Hoops earrings make any outfit look hot, and while Hilary Duff is showing off her hot new bod, she's also glamming it up with her golden bamboo earrings by CC SKYE Large Bamboo Hoop Earrings. Hilary loves these hoop earrings so much that she wears them out and about with jeans and special events including her June 29th performance at New York's Rockerfeller Center for NBC's The Today Show. She's definitely grown out of her young and innocent Lizzie McGuire days.

"CC Skye began her design journey in Nepal, where she lived and studied Nepali life while creating and selling jewelry and dresses in Nepal's markets. She launched her first line in the US in the fall of 2004. Her first collection was featured in Elle, Lucky, and In Style. Since then her jewelry and bags have been popular with celebrities like Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Courtney Love, and others." California Style

Are Hoop Earrings More Popular Now Than Ever Before?
The latest fashion shows focused on the designs and styles of this season will be hitting the stores in the summer and autumn of 2009. One of the biggest things as far as jewellery is concerned was the usage of hoop earrings in many fashion shows. This clearly signifies that they are coming back, and will be in vogue for the rest of the year.

Celebrity Jewelry
Hoop earrings are "The Comeback Kid." No matter how often they go away, they always come back and now they are hot as ever!

Earring Envy
Well, it appears my last post on large hoops was timely. According to a story that appeared today in the Telegraph, cosmetic surgeons have reported an increase in the the number of women requiring corrective surgery to fix problems caused by heavy earrings. Singled out for special notice was the designer Zac Posen, who features “earrings so long that they wound around the neck.” Sure enough, the pics I’ve seen of the the “2009 Ready-To-Wear” collection show models decked out in gorgeous large earrings. Did you get the “gorgeous” part? I for one am ready to risk ear-corrective surgery if someone tosses me a pair of Posen dangles! The other designer mentioned was Louis Vuitton. Drool drool! I’ve looked a looked for a picture of these £580 wood and resin earrings but I can’t find one (readers, please help me out!). Something tells me I’d be saying the the same thing about these as the Posen pretties. Bottom line: fashion can be dangerous.

Girly Mall

Whenever faced with such a tough situation, hoop earrings are the way out. Going Through Hoops
While I try not to make a habit out of taking style cues from The Pussycat Dolls, I couldn’t help but notice the abundance of girl-band-wannabes sporting giant hoop earrings as I tuned in to tonight’s episode of “Girlicious” (tell me I’m not the only one who considers it their Tuesday night guilty pleasure!) Although some were on the gaudy side, I have to admit that with the combination of big hair and big attitude, hoop earrings can look pretty fierce. I’m thinking I’ll have to pick up a pair like this one ($6.50, from claires.com) for my next big night out – sassy strut not included.

Hoop Dreams
I am a big fan of hoop earrings--the big ones. My standard hoops are sterling silver and are large, but I really wanted something much bigger. About a month ago, I had bought a new pair of hoops that are brass and slightly flattened. Their slightly smaller than my silver pair, but I like them just the same as I can coordinate the color with non-silver/chrome hardware accessories and the pair works well with my many fall outfits. I also like that they're not gold or gold tone, which doesn't work well for me. Source: LimoHeels.com

Hoop Earrings a Style From History
Earrings add beauty to a face. Different types of earrings suit different faces. Women have a fascination for earrings of all metals. While gold earrings are more traditional, silver earrings are smart. Earrings are essentially worn in the ear lobe, but in recent times, the trend is to wear them at the top of the ears too. Earrings, although by and large remain a woman’s domain, men too have again taken to wearing earrings, like their ancestors.

The various types of earrings in the market today are numerous, made in different styles, with different metals. The precious metals such as gold, silver, white gold, platinum are used to make earrings. The cheaper earrings are made up of beads, wire, plastic etc. The hoop earrings come in all these precious as well as synthetics materials.

The earrings that take a turn from one side of the earlobe and join on the other end are called hoop earrings. They are known to suit oval faces the best, although they look good on everyone. The two styles are the hinged hoop earrings and the puffed hoop earrings. The hinged hoop are short rings whereas the hinged hoop ones are longer and have bigger hoops.

Diamonds set in the hoops make the hoop earrings a beautiful piece of jewelry that can be worn for parties too. They look quite dressy even when worn over normal clothes.

Jewelers make all sorts of combinations for hoop earrings. There are some with only diamonds, while others are combined with other precious gemstones. Gold and white gold are mixed too and the effect of those earrings is exotic to say the least.

The thickness of the hoop earrings varies from the extremely thin to the very thick. Some of them are made very fragile with several wires and some are made so thick that diamonds or other stones can be set in these thick ones.

Diamond hoop earrings are very much a fashion statement now. Some of the most beautiful famous women love hoop earrings and they love the single studded hoop earring. A single diamond is embedded into the hoop and it gives a very youthful look.

Hoop earrings with their cascading style are very popular these days. Many celebrities wear these hoop earrings on big occasions and that in itself makes them exotic to wear for the fashion conscious woman, who wants to keep herself up-to-date with the latest trends.

Imagine the look it would create if you wear a long hoop earring on your earlobe and a small fitting hoop earring for the top of the ear. Wear it with the most modern and trendy clothes and you yourself are creating fashion.

Hoop Earrings Come Rolling Back Into Style
Well, they’re back. Those big, obnoxious hoop earrings in yellow gold. Wouldn’t you know they’d show up the minute most of us finally got around to giving our own collections to kids for dress-up play. And it’s not just the earrings, yellow gold itself is beginning to outshine the subtle silver of the ’90s. “We’re seeing a resurgence,” said Renee Wilson, manager of Heirloom Jewels. “It’s a very polished Chanel, New York look… . For years [the look] was very delicate, and people are still wearing that, but our customers want these signature pieces that are much bolder. It’s a great suit look.” And it comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes and prices. Department stores display box after box of hoops and chains, and even discount stores provide a gold selection, many pieces well under $100.

Look of the Day: Halle Berry
There are a slew of uber-stylish, pregnant celebrities out there right now–Nicole Richie, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez, to name a few–but I think that Halle Berry is outshining all of them. Her low-key looks, like this empire-waist frock worn to a taping of David Letterman, shows off her growing bump tastefully. Often, celebrities layer on way too much makeup when they are pregnant, and Berry is avoiding that pitfall as well. Finally, her jewelry choices complement everything perfectly. She goes for a few well-chosen pieces with maximum sparkle–large diamond encrusted hoop earrings and a diamond ring worn on her index finger. To steal her look, try these JewelMak 18k White Gold Diamond Studded Hoop Earrings paired with this Stephen Webster Attention Seeker 18k Gold diamond ring. Source: Portero.com

Trend for Spring 2009
Oversized hoops are another trend in celebrity fashion jewelry that have long been around. Lots of women were apprehensive about experimenting with this look, thinking it was only the ghetto hoop earring that was oversized, therefore qualifying you among the hip hop crowd. But recently, in the sprout of spring 2009 celebrities are sporting the oversized hoop look. Women are now ready to experiment with varied designs and styles. Oversized hoops are being used in case of gold, metal and sterling silver. From sweats to cocktail dresses, these hoops are the new fashion trend. Kate Bosworth, Alicia Keys, Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl are fans of the style, and it’s no wonder: Oversize hoops have an edgy feel that adds a funky, playful, urban vibe to an otherwise simple outfit. No wonder J.Lo and Jessica Alba rock the style so often. To make the style even more exciting, choose big hoops with dangling stones in a springy color, like green aventurine, or sterling silver hoops with peridot drops. Even Anne Hathaway and Hilary Duff have invested in a pair. And it seems that the bigger the hoops, the bigger the star. Especially on trend this season are gold hoops in the shape of bamboo twigs. Rihanna, wears chunky triangular shapes as well as the traditional circle in a dangerously large size. For forget me not earrings, this look is best worn with lots of attitude.

Trend Spotter: Bamboo
Bamboo is hot in more than just the fashion world right now–In fact, it’s also a big hit in the world of home decor. Bamboo is a “green” material, meaning that it’s from a sustainable resource and it requires minimal fertilization or pesticide. In fashion circles, the look of bamboo is being used often in jewelry and now even more frequently in handbags. Stars like Hilary Duff, Lily Allen and Rihanna (above) are often spotted in their gold versions of bamboo hoop earrings, and bamboo-style bangles are big with fashion stylists such as Andrea Lieberman (who dresses Gwen Stefani and Mary J. Blige). If you want to find a great handbag with bamboo details, look no further. Gucci has perfected this look in a few different ways including a matte crocodile shoulder bag, a green crocodile handbag, and a tan ostrich hobo. Designer Mary Norton even uses actual bamboo as a trim on her bronze leather tote. Images by Theo Wargo/Wireimage; Jordan Strauss/Wireimage, Eddie Malluk/Wireimage Source: Portero.com

Trend Spotter: Round earrings
Christina + mariah in large circle earrings Hoops are still very much a great summer earring, but I think large circle earrings are actually a better bet this season. Sported by everyone, including Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey (above), this trend will get you noticed and certainly looks young and sexy. Two tips: If you’re wearing a large version of these earrings, limit your other jewelry, and definitely don’t wear a necklace. For a slightly simpler, daytime version of the large round earring, check out Robert Lee Morris’ 18-karat yellow gold version. I own a similar pair, and they are light as a feather–great for wearing for a night on the town. Source: Portero.com
